Jesus Didn’t Call Us Just to Believe. He Called Us to Follow.

When Jesus began His earthly ministry, He called people to follow Him.

He didn’t simply ask people to agree with His teachings. He called them to become His disciples.

Jesus said:

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
Matthew 16:24

Discipleship means following Jesus Christ. It means learning from Him, believing His Word, obeying His commands, and allowing His teachings to guide our lives.

Jesus told His followers to make disciples of others:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Matthew 28:19

The Christian life is therefore more than simply saying that we believe in Jesus. It is a commitment to follow Him.

A disciple studies God’s Word.

A disciple seeks to understand what Jesus taught.

A disciple obeys Christ even when obedience is difficult.

A disciple turns away from the things that separate us from God.

A disciple continues learning and growing throughout life.

Counting the Cost

Jesus also made it clear that discipleship has a cost.

He said:

“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:27

Following Christ isn’t always easy. There will be times when doing what Jesus taught means going against the culture around us, giving up things we want, or standing alone.

But Jesus never promised that following Him would be easy. He called us to be faithful.

Why Discipleship Matters

The purpose of Last Call Outreach Ministry is not simply to provide information about the Bible. We want to encourage people to actually follow Jesus Christ.

There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and becoming His disciple.

A person can know Bible verses, attend church, watch Christian videos, and discuss theology without actually following Christ.

Discipleship brings the teachings of Jesus into our everyday lives.

How we treat other people matters.

How we respond to temptation matters.

How we handle suffering matters.

How we use our time matters.

What we love matters.

What we believe matters.

Jesus calls us to follow Him in all of these areas.

A Call to Follow Jesus

If you believe in Jesus Christ, don’t stop there.

Learn from Him.

Listen to Him.

Obey Him.

Follow Him.

Become His disciple.

And as you grow, help others discover what it means to follow Him too.

That is the heart of discipleship.

Jesus called us to follow Him. The question is: Are we willing to follow?
